On the occasion of Atli Ingólfsson’s sixtieth birthday, here is a programme with a work of his and four companions from his studies in Milan. These works all strive for an outspoken, and even rude mode of expression, beyond rules of good conduct honored by contemporary music. The inspiration comes from rock or punk music, psychedelic experiences, outsider poetry, noise, eroticism or whatever may cleanse the petit-bourgeois surface off of chamber music. Most renowned of this company is without doubt Fausto Romitelli, who may be said to have been a pioneer of brutalistic and extatic music. He was a great inspiration to his friends and deeply grieved when he passed away in 2003. The concert starts with Romitelli’s Professor Bad Trip: Lesson no 1 and it ends with Ingólfsson’s Orgoras Speaks, where clarinetvirtuosi Beate Zelinsky and David Smeyers from Cologne hold the main role. In between there are works for instruments and electronics by Riccardo Nova, Giovanni Verrando and Massimiliano Viel.
