Sunday 29th May - 16:00
The Kordo String Quartet hosts an unusual concert where the listeners are invited on a journey through the history of the string quartet all the way from Bach to Barber.
The program consists of selected movements from many of the best known masterpieces written for string quartet that gives an insight into the world of classical music and it’s generous contribution in music literature.
The concert is unconventional with talking in between the pieces. A light and cheerful program appealing to both the young and the old.
Kordo String Quartet was founded in 2018 and held it’s first concert in Norðurljós at Harpa in 2019. The quartet has quickly established itself as one of Iceland’s leading chamber music ensembles. Kordo string quartet has performed at the Reykjavík Classics summer series at Harpa, in Tíbrá concert series in Salurinn Concert Hall in Kópavogur and at the Chamber Music Society in Harpa.
Kordo members are violinist Vera Panitch and Páll Palomares, violist Þórarinn Már Baldursson and cellist Hrafnkell Orri Egilsson. They are all members of Iceland Symphony Orchestra.
