Cellist Geirþrúður Anna Guðmundsdóttir performs three towering works for solo cello: the first cello suite of Englishman Benjamin Britten, the second cello suite of J.S. Bach, and Icelandic composer Guðmundur Hafsteinsson's Spuni I (or Spinning I). These kaleidoscopic multi-movement works push the cello to its utmost limits and create a symphonic sound world using only one instrument. They are in equal measure breathtakingly virtuosic and poetically intimate and together bring both audience and performer on an unforgettable journey.
