The Handbellchoir Wiedensahl established 1987 is one of Germany´s biggest and leading handbellensembles. Under the direction of Thomas Eickhoff the choir performs with over 100 bells and 61 handchimes with a range of seven octaves. Beside concerts in whole Germany the ringers performed in the State Opera of Hanover, the French Dome in Berlin, the European Parliament in Brussels and with the Trinity Boys Choir from London. Four successful international tours took the Handbellchoir Wiedensahl to the USA (2003 and 2013), South Africa (2006) and Taiwan and Hongkong (2015). The ensemble won first prizes at the “German Orchestra Competition” three times. This is the most acclaimed competition for amateur music ensembles in Germany organized by the German Music Council. Because of that the ringers could be heard and seen in radio and television programs of the NDR and other broadcasting corporations.
