Concert series dedicated to the grassroots of Icelandic music, across musical genres.

Harpa, in cooperation with Reykjavík Music City and the broadcasting channel Rás 2, is organizing a concert series dedicated to the grassroots of Icelandic music across musical genres

.The concert series is called Upprásin, and takes place in Kaldalón music hall one Tuesday evening each month in the winter of 2024–2025. The concert series is a part of the implementation of the policy of Harpa to open doors for the grassroots and young people across genres and to increase diversity. The goal is also for music lovers to be able to easily access new Icelandic music of various kinds, directly from the grassroots of the music scene, performed in the optimal facilities of the nation’s premier concert hall.

The ticket price is 2000 isk.

Áslaug Dungal is a 24 year old musician who has been playing her music for about two years. She plays electric guitar and sings, and performing with her are Jón G. Breiðfjörð on drums and Borgþór Jónsson on bass. The music is influenced by 90s shoegaze and ambient music.

The band Osme plays meditative heavy rock and is composed of seasoned veterans from the Icelandic music scene, with members who have been in bands like Singapore Sling and Skátar. Osme places great emphasis on stage presence and emotion in their performances. Their music is characterized by smooth, hypnotic drone sounds with a heavy metal undertone. The band strives to achieve a trance-like state that transcends time and space, encouraging listeners to reflect on the importance of deep listening in daily life, both to oneself and to others.

Rauður is the stage name of musician Auður Viðarsdóttir, who started her solo career in 2016 after being part of the band Nóra. Rauður's music can be described as an electronic landscape featuring synthesizers, samples, and unconventional rhythms. The lyrics roam between dream and reality, sometimes floating in turbulent seas, stuck in a perpetual apocalypse or floating in outer space. In 2019, Rauður released the album Semilunar to positive reviews, and she will perform songs from the album along with new material at Upprásin.
