Global Goals
The United Nations has 17 global goals with 169 sub-goals. Harpa has chosen the goals below to prioritize and link to its activities.
Harpa's staff took part in choosing the goals that they thought were well suited to the activity, and implementation has begun in a meaningful way.
Before the selection, the staff was introduced to the Global Goals and how they were conceived as part of the company's focus on sustainability and social responsibility.
Good health and well-being
By being a well-run human-friendly workplace, we contribute to the healthy lifestyle and well-being of our employees. Harpa sets goals in relation to the health and well-being of employees (including health subsidies and health measurements). Harpa's role is, among other things, to create cultural and social values by being the nation's meeting house and a venue for diverse events. Music, togetherness and cultural experiences increase the quality of life and contribute to good mental health.
Gender Equality
Harpa places great emphasis on equality for all genders with a clear equality policy, plan and equal pay certification (objective salary decisions and equal pay for similar or equally valuable jobs). A plan ensures that gender equality is systematically promoted and that gender and equality perspectives are integrated into the company's activities. The UFS report provides public information on key measures in equality matters. Harpa is a member of the KeyChange project and is committed to promoting the equal status of women in the field of music.
Decent work and economic growth
Harpa's strategy is to create economic and social value. It is, among other things, done by being a platform for about 1300 events a year that create jobs for a very wide group. Currency generating international events all year round. A destination and attraction that strengthens tourism in Reykjavík – supports employment levels, broadens services and increases foreign exchange earnings. Aim to be a sought-after and excellent workplace for professionals in the core area of operations. Harpa's goal is to increase productivity in harmony with the environment and society.
