Norðurljós

For over a decade, mezzo-soprano Hildigunnur Einarsdóttir and pianist Guðrún Dalía Salómonsdóttir have been exploring the history of Icelandic art songs, revisiting this distinctive form of expression that bridges the worlds of music and poetry. At the Dark Music Days festival, they will host a celebration of the art song, providing a glimpse into its role in contemporary Icelandic music.

The performance will feature new and recent works by composers such as Ingibjörg Ýr Skarphéðinsdóttir, Kolbeinn Bjarnason, Steinunn Arnbjörg Stefánsdóttir, Anna Þorvaldsdóttir, Hugi Guðmundsson, Finn Karlsson, and Páll Ivan frá Eiðum, with texts by poets like Steinunn Sigurðardóttir, Gerður Kristný, Steinunn Arnbjörg Stefánsdóttir, and others.

The concert will last about an hour, without intermission.
